Review of the Panasonic Lumix G2 Digital Camera
The Panasonic Lumix G2 is a digital interchangeable lens camera that offers photographers an entirely new kind of system shooting. Touch the screen to take photographs. Touch the LCD to indicate the subject while the Lumix G2 focuses on it in an instant. Operate the auto focus and shutter release at the same time with a touch for a completely new way to take photographs.
The touch operation makes manual focusing easier as well. In the manual focus mode touch an image n the LCD and the Lumix G2 presents a blown-up view of the image instantly making it easier to check for a sharp focus.
Features include:
• Adjusting the exposure compensation by sliding your finger on the aperture and shutter speed settings in the exposure meter shown on the LCD
• Touch-operated playback
• Take breathtaking HD movies, record for longer intervals without running out of memory because AVCHD Lite stores less data than Motion JPEG. Instantly start recording movies while taking photos with use of a button on the top without having to make extra settings. The motion picture P mode makes it easy to shoot beautiful HD movies. Set the degree of soft focusing in the background to capture rich, emotionally expressive HD movie images. Select iA mode and the camera automatically activates a host of advanced functions and technologies that easily capture HD movies.
• AF tracking: The camera focuses correctly on the subject and follows it around even if the subject turns to the side.
• Full-time live view works with the LCD and the live view finder which means no matter which way you shoot you see before you shoot how adjusting the exposure compensation, white balance, aperture and the shutter speed will affect the image.
• Large 3.0 inches LCD rates 180 degrees horizontally and 270 degrees vertically which makes it easier to capture dynamic shots from extreme angles without getting into awkward positions. If the lighting around you changes, the LCD backlighting level automatically changes too allowing comfortable viewing at all times.
• The camera‘s 4/3-type 12.1-megapixel LiveMOS sensor offers superior image quality of a CCD sensor and lower power consumption of a CMOS sensor. The results are clear images even when taken at high ISO sensitivity.
• Capture perfect shots with a single press of the iA button
• Face recognition recognizes faces of up to three people registering in the camera and displays the names on the LCD.
• Intelligent exposure corrects the brightness in parts of the image that are too dark due to insufficient lighting, backlighting or use of the flash.
• Intelligent scene selector automatically selects the most suitable scene mode of portrait, night portrait, scenery, night scenery, close-up or sunset.
• Intelligent ISO control allows a perfect shot even if the subject moves as you shoot. It will automatically adjust the ISO sensitivity and shutter speed to help prevent blur.
• MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer): Gyrosensors built into the lens automatically detects hand-shake an O.I.S. lens shifts to compensate to assist in getting clear photos without blur.
• My Color Mode: Designed for more creative shooting makes it easy to capture creative images. Aim the camera and select one of seven effects that include silhouette, expressive, pure and others. A custom setting allows for adjustment of color, brightness and saturation that suit your preference.
• Intelligent resolution technology automatically identifies parts with outlines, detailed texture areas and soft gradation areas. It optimizes the edge emphasis on the outlines and detailed texture areas while using the Venus Engine noise reduction process to make the soft gradation areas smoother. This technology allows for capturing images with details you never seen before in both photo and movie recording.
• Easy image viewing: Take the SDXC/SDHC/SD memory card from the G2 and put it into the card slot of a VIERA or Blu-ray disc player to view HD images. You can add background, music, image effects to image slideshows.
• A variety of lenses for more creative tools: LUMXI G VARIO 14-42mm/F3.5-5.6 ASPH./MEGA O.I.S. features a built-in O.I.S. And covers a focal distance of 28mm to 84mm (35mm camera equivalent). The multi-coating process on each lens minimizes ghosts and flaring allowing for beautiful images from simple snapshots to family portraits to scenic landscape shots.
This Panasonic digital interchangeable lens camera introduced in 2010 is the world’s first system camera with touch-control shooting offering photographers an entirely new way of shooting photos and movies.
