Bought this lens to supplement my 14-42mm, 40-150mm and 70-300mm lens set for an Olympus E-510 camera body.
My primary interest is portraiture and since attaching this lens to the camera body, I have fewer reasons to switch to either 14-42 and 40-150mm. While the kit lenses are great (and lighter), the 12-60mm provides more flexibility (less need to juggle between two lenses, larger aperture) and image quality. I am happy with the portraits I can now take indoors with available light.

Cons (nit picking, really): This “high grade” 12-60mm lens costs almost as much as the E-510 and the three lenses. I wish Olympus offered a lower cost “standard” version without weather protection, or at least another lens (in their “standard lens” category) covering 16-80mm instead. The available 18-180mm option seems a stretch for my needs.

Caution: The 12-60mm lens on E-510 body sticks out a bit, casting a shadow in pix using built-in flash at the wider angle end. Not a problem for me since I usually operate at the longer focal lengths … or if we use an external flash, like FL-50.

Problem: Now I am looking to buy an additional (newer) Olympus body to match with the 12-60mm … the E-510 would then be paired with either 70-300mm or 40-150mm depending on the shooting requirements.
